As many of you know, I am a BIG fan of the NBC Biggest Loser Show and have found a great and supportive friend in Biggest Loser Jim Germanakos. Jim will be working with me in 2010. I would like to invite all WSG member's to join Jim and Hawgdaddy in 2010

It seems like everyone is on a diet these days and struggling to find a solution that actually works. 10 TIPS FOR SHOPPING WHILE ON A WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM

THE PLAIN TRUTH ON WEIGHTLOSS

Do you know that it is a fact of weightloss that it is impossible to lose weight and burn fat by skipping meals?. Dieting experts often still refuse to believe this fact of dieting and weightloss but it is true and you cannot begin losing weight until you realize this fact of burning fat and losing weight.

If the goal of weightloss, dieting, and losing weight is to consume less food, then how can skipping meals while dieting make an individual fat? Isn't it true that you can lose weight by skipping meals? Why is this not a true way to lose weight?

Most dieting experts are not true experts on the subject of weightloss or fat burning and therefore tend to diet blindly without all of the facts necessary to burn fat and lose weight successfully. When you begin skipping meals in an attempt to burn fat and lose weight the human body will begin burning less and less calories each day making your attempts at losing weight useless and all weightloss will come to a halt making it difficult to lose weight and burn fat any longer.

As an example, let's say that your are presently dieting in an attempt to burn fat and lose weight and eating 5 meals every day (spaced out by at least 2.5-3 hours) and you are eating 400 calories at each meal for a total daily caloric intake of 2,000 calories.

One day you decide that your fat burning and weightloss results are not being achieved quickly enough so you decide to begin skipping meals in order to burn fat and speed up the fat burning & weightloss process, so you go from eating 5 meals per day at 400 calories each to eating only one meal every day thinking that you will begin losing weight this way.

So you abruptly switched from eating 2,000 calories per day (to start losing weight) to eating only 400 calories per day, and you figure that you will begin to burn fat and lose weight faster than ever since you have reduced your calories by 80% by skipping meals (a big weightloss mistake).

You will burn fat and lose weight quickly for a few days to a week, but your body will quickly adapt to eating only 400 calories each day and your body will begin to burn only 400 calories per day (as opposed to previously burning 2,000 calories per day) which means all fat burning and weightloss will abruptly stop.

At this point in your diet and fat burning plan there is no doubt that you will be miserable mentally and physically because of your severe lack of calories from skipping meals while trying to lose weight and burn fat, especially after you figure out that you no longer are able to lose weight and burn fat.

Not being able to lose weight and burn fat while starving yourself is bad enough but your body will also begin to burn muscle and organ tissue (which is not real weightloss) for energy which will then leave you soft and flabby due to this lack of remaining muscle tissue. It is muscle that creates the healthy fit look. Successful dieting does not burn any muscle tissue as a substitute for weightloss but in fact will burn fat tissue only. Successful dieting burns fat tissue, not muscle tissue, and you need to realize this important fact of weightloss and dieting now.

So as you can clearly see, you will actually be in worse shape than before by skipping meals because you did not lose any actual body fat tissue and you actually lost precious muscle and organ tissue. Remember the goal of losing weight has nothing to do with weight but actual fat tissue loss. It is the presence of fat tissue that makes a person fat and this same fat tissue must be removed in order be fit and lean.

Nic, has been involved in sports and fitness for about 7 years and is a specialist in general fitness, weight loss, sports training and circuit training.

Nic's hobbies include playing and watching football, playing pool and being outdoors, but his true passion helping people around him in need of support and motivation.
